MEET ADOREE:
Adorée is a uniquely gifted wide range performer with a commanding stage presence, this prodigiously talented girl originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma received her Bachelors of Science in Sociology and Bachelor of Arts in African and African American Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Despite not knowing what she will do with these two degrees, Adorée definitely knew she had a love for African culture, travel and wanted to perform in music and dance somehow someway. With her background in music and also musical theatre, Adorée decided to further hrr career and try out for the hit TV Show American Idol 2004 where she landed in Hollywood and her but on television and provided her with many opportunities as a result. In 2005, Adorée moved to Washington, DC earning her MFA in Jazz Performance all the while dancing salsa, kizomba/semba. Adorée also trained in west african traditional dance and where she has performed in such groups, NOMMO West African Traditional Dance Group, NSAA West African Traditional Dance Team. Adorée also performed in her own band while in DC which prepared her for her debut musical performance in Europe which later developed into opportunities to perfo professionally in african dances such as Kizomba, Semba, Afro, and Afro Kuduro all around Europe. Adorée thas developed into a full-fledged, world-class performer and shows herself ripe for discovery as a great international woman of performance.
With her Traditional African dance roots and her Masters degree of Jazz she decided use her knowledge of dancing and music/singing to not only perform but teach musicality in this world of african dances in Europe scene. Adorée has a passion for people to better understand the culture of Africa and its music. In January 2013 Adorée took a risk and moved to London to perform which opened many doors for her. Adorée currently residing in Prague, Czech Republic, has performed and taught in over 23 countries across Europe, as well as across Africa, Asia and North/South America and currently singing, performing and teaching not only in Kizomba but also Semba, Musicality, Dance Floor Sensuality 101, Afro, AfroKuduro in Heels, and West African Traditional dances just to name a few. Adorée believes every opportunity she is given to teach, perform the African and African Diaspora Dances, is a great and fun way to learn more about yourself, how to be grounded and of course more about African culture as a whole. Adorée believes that by using all your senses it is an amazing way to connect each of us in one way or another to the dance, music , the heartbeat of Africa.

MEET HELDER:
Born in Angola, Luanda, Helder combines dance, music, humor, inspiration and satire to Kizomba and Semba. His works are structured along, Ndombolo, Kuduro, Samba, Merengue, House, and its associated music and address the legacy of decade of slavery. Helder came to US in early 2000’s to pursue his education further as an Architectural Engineer and while pursuing his studies he connected to the Embassy of Angola and it was there he was asked to do work to help promote his culture in USA. It was there he began working with his cousin Gil Ingles, Angolan Cultural Ambassador who started a company in DC called, AfroSensuality, which created a space for people who were interested to be connected to PALOP culture. Gil Ingles wanted to stay behind the scenes and push Helder forward to be the face of AfroSensuality with Thoko, who was connected to the Kizomba Community Internationally but lived in DC. It was a perfect match as they were successful in bringing Kizomba/Semba to the DMV area through teaching/having workshops with International Teachers and Kizomba parties. With Studio AfroSensuality, Helder Almeida has presented several works: Spectacular Sensuality (2011) and Sensuality Fest (2012), just to name a few.
Helder always knew dancing from very young in Angola. But it was when he was 15 that he became serious about learning his culture and dancing at Zangado (Ingombota municipal) where Mateus Zangado Pele introduced the first steps of Semba and Kizomba, and where Helder saw and learned his first real steps by watching the choreographic composition, improvisation, a learning process without self-alienation in small spaces, sand floor. The movements never deny its Black Angolan Roots, but who exploited the freedom in varied, open and contemporary forms always full of meaning. Helder believes, it is his nature to dance by virtue of the beat of his heart, the pulse of his blood and the music in his mind and it is the oldest, noblest and most cogent of the arts so he can dance daily.
